The Vision and Design
Montage Deer Valley promises a classic on-mountain getaway for all seasons. Resort guests enjoy a coveted location atop Empire Pass, true ski-in/ski-out access to America’s No. 1 ski resort (ranked by the readers of SKI Magazine 2008-2013) and year-round activities, including hiking, biking, golf and fly-fishing. Montage Deer Valley offers 154 deluxe guestrooms and more than 66 suites and residences, ranging from one to four bedrooms, with breathtaking alpine views. All accommodations include a gas fireplace, scenic mountain or valley views, private balcony or patio, estate-quality furnishings, and five-fixture stone bathrooms with separate glass-wall showers, soaking tubs and heated floors. Park City’s historic Main Street offers shopping, dining, cultural events and festivals – all just minutes from the resort.
The completion of Montage Deer Valley represents the culmination of nearly a decade of planned redevelopment of land that was part of the historic ore mining and processing site of the Daly West Mine. Through partnership with the EPA, the development of the land included cleanup of the contamination from the former mine and the establishment of a conservation easement of over 2,800 acres. The resort seeks to minimize its impact through minimizing and treating storm water runoff by removing 80 percent of the total suspended solids. Efforts to reduce the impact of motor vehicles on the site include tying into the local public transportation system through the use of a shuttle system, providing preferred parking for hybrid and fuel-efficient vehicles as well as for carpools and reducing site parking by 20 percent more than is allowable by code. An energy-efficient heat enthalpy recovery system as well as a stacked boiler system contribute to the 19 percent energy reduction. Operation of the resort will continue to focus on sustainability through purchasing policies, green housekeeping and an integrated pest-management program. The resort earned LEED Silver Certification.
