JW Marriott Hotel São Paulo Marriott International Luxury Hotel Brand Finally Arrives in Brazil

Parque da Cidade, São Paulo, Brazil

The Challenge

Design the first Marriott International luxury hotel in Brazil and bring yet another high-end development to the fast-growing Parque da Cidade section of São Paulo.

The Design Solution

HKS designers used extensive research on Brazilian architecture, landscaping and natural resources to give priority to native materials during construction. The design team created unique design elements to highlight the hotel’s public spaces, guest rooms and suits. The manicured landscaping The lobby contains a custom-designed installation by famed Brazilian artist Burle Marx, and Sao Paulo painter and designer, Antonio Malta, that uses fiber optics and crystals to mimic a star-filled sky. Other artwork throughout the hotel’s public spaces helps gives guests moments of respite.

In the spa, the contemporary design is highlighted by a color palette of calming earth tones along with natural textures and upscale furnishings. There 10 tranquil treatment rooms that range in size from 100 square feet for individuals to more than 200 square feet for couples. The fully-equipped fitness center also offers a private yoga room, outdoor pool and steam room. In addition, the hotel’s massive 10,000 square foot convention center has six private rooms with large windows that produce natural light while offering a breathtaking view of the nearby nature preserve.

The JW Marriott Hotel São Paulo São Paulo will also have two restaurants, a world-class spa, a unique indoor-outdoor pool and event spaces suitable for events of all types. It will boast two hotel rooms, all sitting atop six floors of below-grade parking. At the top of the building is a residents-only lounge that offers expansive views of the city.

The Design Impact
