Project

Jinjiang International Exhibition Center Master Plan A Centerpiece for a New Town District

JinJiang, Fujian Province, China

The Challenge

To design an elegant, large-scale exhibition facility within the context of a new master plan.

The Design Solution

We organized the site to efficiently manage very large numbers of people and vehicles. Exhibition halls are stacked in a two-level configuration that creates room for landscaped park and plaza areas along street frontages. Lower exhibition halls have direct access to truck loading areas and upper level halls have service elevator access. All back-of-house and semi-truck loading operations are completely concealed within the building. A five-star hotel tower with a dedicated arrival area energizes the north site of the site and provides a vertical element to the project. The prominent southern entry and exhibition plaza is a dramatic destination for arrival by vehicle or by foot from the train station via the boulevard parkway. The habitable plaza surface slopes up dramatically to become the exterior wall and roof enclosure of the exhibition halls and pre-function space.

The Design Impact

The JinJiang Exhibition Center is conceived as a highly efficient yet beautiful and dramatic centerpiece of the new JinJiang town district.
