CGDG Xinjiang Beautiful China Resort Tourism Yining Hotel A Modern Expression of Multicultural Heritage
Xinjiang, China
The Challenge
Xingjiang’s Yining City is vital node on the northern Silk Road and China’s largest western border city where modern lifestyles, entertainment and economic trends are now integrated with ancient cultural surroundings.
To create a luxury hotel of international repute, the design team was asked to demonstrate a deep understanding of Yining’s history and merge it with contemporary styles and techniques, incorporating local culture into architectural and landscape design.
The design of the Yining Hotel project blends inspiration from 40 ethnic cultures and is meticulously planned on a complex triangular site with significant elevation differences. The resort provides an engaging experience that balances modern living standards, appeals to the internet influencer economy and adheres to environmental protection standards.
The Design Solution
The designers created a unique “River Valley Courtyard,” showcasing the multi-ethnic culture of the region and lifestyle of locals. The resort’s overall planning structure includes characteristics of both traditional and modern design. The outer axis consists of a tree-shaded arrival area, a drop-off courtyard, and a mountain viewing corridor, and the inner axis consists of a Silk Road cultural corridor, which connects public spaces and reflects cultural heritage and modern aesthetics. The InterContinental Hotel, EVEN Hotel and a convention center are arranged according to the quality of landscape resources and visibility, and the hotel courtyards balance public and private access.
The project’s architectural design is inspired by the folk houses of Yining. With clear outlines and uniform lines, the buildings are neatly planned to echo one another while maintaining unique identities, and key parts such as entrances and porches are highlighted. The design focuses on green building concepts and uses modern materials and technologies to ensure environmental performance.
The Design Impact
The project sets a new benchmark in Yining’s luxury hotel market, enhancing the city’s tourism appeal and economic growth. By blending local culture with international brand standards, it showcases Yining’s rich historical culture and offers a unique guest experience. The project serves as a model for sustainable development and provides guests with a distinct experience that is both globally relevant and locally authentic.
