Dickies ArenaA Spectacular Fort Worth Event Venues

Fort Worth, Texas, USA

Design Architect: David M. Schwarz Architects, Inc.

The Challenge

To design a multipurpose arena that can host events ranging from major concerts to rodeos while also promoting the cowboy culture for which the city of Fort Worth is known.

The Design Solution

When it opens in November 2019, Dickies Arena will become the new home of the annual Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo. We designed the new facility to have much of the same colonial look as its predecessor, which was built in 1936. The new arena will feature 40 founders suites with premium seating, and other levels of desirable seating include upscale club suites and Loge box seating. Ticket holders to those areas also have access to the North Club, which offers fine dining and a high-end bar. As an example of its full-service capabilities and accessibility to its Fort Worth stakeholders, the facility will also have exhibit space and meeting rooms. The Dickies Arena Plaza provides 209,000 square feet of outdoor space to host festivals, concerts, and corporate events or even weddings on nonevent days. The Plaza connects to the arena parking garage and guests walk across a pedestrian bridge to scenic walkways surrounded by green space. The 716,000 square foot arena will be located next to the Will Rogers Memorial Coliseum campus.

The Design Impact

In addition to the Fort Worth Stock Show, Dickies Arena will also host the NCAA Women’s Gymnastics Championship beginning in 2020 and the first- and second-round games of the 2022 NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament. It is seeking LEED certification.
