HKS’ Bernita Beikmann Elevated to AIA College of Fellows

Each year, the American Institute of Architects recognizes architects who have achieved excellence in the profession and made a significant contribution to society by elevating them to the AIA College of Fellows. HKS is proud to announce that Bernita Beikmann, Chief Process Officer, Principal and Executive Vice President, has been named an AIA Fellow in 2023.

Beikmann is a notable leader who has dedicated her career to improving design and construction processes and outcomes. A pioneer of Integrated Project Delivery (IPD), she advocates for interdisciplinary partnership and enhanced project performance industry wide. She is also an award-winning thought leader, author, and educator with major contributions to Lean Construction methodologies, publications and curricula.

For Beikmann, who started at HKS in 1996, the FAIA credential and honor signify the importance of building relationships and making progress in the industry she cares deeply about.

“FAIA recognition means that the work I have done on project teams, as an educator, and as a leader and advocate for the architecture profession is recognized as making an impact,” she said. “This recognition also acknowledges the work of the many people who have participated in making impact and continue to push for better outcomes in projects.”

CEO Dan Noble has worked with Beikmann since her early days at HKS and has seen her grow into the influential leader she is today.

“Bernita is an innovator within our firm and the profession at large. Her dedication to advancing the field through collaborative processes and passion for high performance design make her a role model for employees and partners alike.”
