
HKS at AIA25: Resilience, Innovation and Global Design
The 2025 AIA Conference on Architecture and Design (AIA25) — the largest gathering of architects and design professionals in the world — will be held June 4-7, 2025 in Boston. This year’s conference emphasizes creativity and innovation, encouraging collaborators in the fields of architecture, design, construction, engineering and landscape architecture to reimagine the possibilities of the AEC industry.
The conference will feature keynotes from leading voices in artificial intelligence, infrastructure and digital storytelling and more than 450 education sessions. At the industry’s largest annual expo, 600 brands and vendors will display building products, technologies and services.

Shaping the Future of Design Across Borders: A Global Architecture Workshop presented by AIA International

HKS’ Global Practice Director, Hospitality Sergio Saenz will join fellow thought leaders from around the world for an exploration into the future of global architecture practice during this comprehensive day-long workshop aimed at discussing challenges, opportunities and strategies for architects working across borders.
Legal Best Practices for Architects
Wednesday, June 4th — 9:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. ET
HKS’ Chief Legal Officer Craig Williams will present alongside several other architect attorneys during this workshop, highlighting successful strategies for client and project selection, mitigating legal challenges and analyzing contracts and liability claims in support of better practice outcomes.
Future-proofing Communities: The Power of Resilient Design in Architecture
Thursday, June 5th — 4:00 p.m. to 5:15 p.m. ET
HKS Sustainable Design Leader, Health Sammy Shams will join fellow designers to highlight real-world examples of the impact of building resilience on community safety and sustainability as well as an exploration of codes, innovative flood models and strategies for minimizing carbon emissions and achieving net-zero goals.
What is the Future of JEDI/EDI in the Profession?
Thursday, June 5th — 4:00 p.m. to 5:15 p.m. ET
HKS Project Manager Sarah Woynicz will speak alongside industry leaders in a session that engages diverse stakeholders in discussions about how JEDI/EDI principals can shape the future of the architecture profession.
Woynicz will also lead and facilitate discussions during the Taking Care of Business Workshop on Wednesday, June 4th at 9:30am and with the Young Architects Forum at the AIA Booth on the Expo Floor Friday, June 6th at 3:00pm.
In addition to these dynamic sessions and workshops at AIA25, HKS’ Heath May and Keith Lashley will be recognized as new inductees to the AIA College of Fellows. And many HKS colleagues will gather for the AIA annual business meeting and celebrate the firm’s recent industry-leading projects and accomplishments.
