Storey Park
Washington, D.C.

Just blocks from the U.S. Capitol, NoMa is Washington, D.C.’s fastest growing neighborhood that has transformed from a blighted industrial area to a vibrant, 24/7 community. It is served by 13 methods of transportation with access to major roadways, railways and mass transit and is one of the most walkable cities with a rating of 89, “Very Walkable,” on the Walk Score index. At the heart of NoMa is Storey Park, a mixed-use complex with an energetic synthesis of office space, residential, retail and public spaces. The large public park is a center for the neighborhood providing a place to take a break from work during the day and a place to take the family for a walk in the evening.

The Vision and Design

Storey Park is conceived around the notion that powerful public spaces around and within a building create great design and great success for all entities involved. Because the neighborhood was devoid of quality open space, we introduced a significant, neighborhood-focused public park. The park creates a center for the NoMa community as well as a front door to Storey Park.

Our design approach started with the first floor. While the ground floor uses may be small in comparison to the larger spaces above, the ground floor offers the opportunity to add tremendous value to the entire project through streetscape design, vibrant storefronts, product positioning, retail footprints and leasing strategies.
