Human escape. A destination resort is meant to let people escape from their everyday lives and experience something new. A new culture, a new view, a new feeling. Using the existing environment as the ideal design feature.

The Four Seasons Resort Hualālai, inspired by the architecture of traditional Hawaiian villages, illustrates the concept of kipuka, or oasis – a lushly landscaped paradise surrounded by molten lava flows.

The Vision and Design

The resort lobby, restaurants and spa are designed as open-air pavilions offering unobstructed views of the Pacific Ocean. The golf clubhouse is sited to views to the 18th fairway of the Jack Nicklaus signature golf course. Organized around four informal courtyards, all guestrooms feature ocean views, private terraces, open-air bathrooms and authentic local furnishings.
