Orlando, Florida

Moved. It’s the moment when emotion overcomes any sense of disbelief. The Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts combines a spectrum of performing arts and becomes a place where everyone can be moved. Everyone can be inspired. A place where the performing arts stir emotions and bring the audience to its feet.

The Vision
A premiere destination for the arts in central Florida, the Dr. Phillips Performing Arts Center offers diverse, world-class performances, entertainment and enhanced arts education programs, while extending a welcoming feel to patrons, artists and visitors, enriching the lives of all.

The Design
The design is a result of an interpretation of the region’s architecture, its natural environment and its people. The 369,000-square-foot art center in downtown Orlando comprises three theaters – an 1,800-seat opera house/symphony hall, a 2,800-seat Broadway theater and a 300-seat community theater. The center also includes a banquet room with seating for up to 300, a 1,200-square-foot donor room and two large sponsor rooms off the main theater lobbies. The back-of-house functions include a full complement of performer support spaces as well as a rehearsal room, education program and administrative spaces. The project is registered under NC v2.2, and is seeking LEED certification.
