“My aim is to create health facilities that are welcoming and reassuring without the usual institutional references of a hospital or health center. I draw inspiration from advances in healthcare, construction and design technology and am influenced by innovation outside of the healthcare sector. I always focus on maximizing access to natural light and views with an emphasis on the therapeutic qualities of nature. Healthcare design must always be patient-centered whilst providing an attractive place to work for all staff and creating a stress-free environment for visitors.”
An experienced professional with over 25 years in the industry, Paul has been with HKS for 15 years and has worked almost exclusively within the healthcare sector during this time.
Paul heads up the HKS UK Healthcare team, which is responsible for major healthcare projects throughout the EMENA regions, including both public- and private-sector facilities.
He has a deep appreciation of the potential for design to enhance efficiency and “lift the spirit” of all who give and receive medical care and has a wide understanding and enjoyment of the technical aspects of design and construction.
Paul has gained and honed his experience at design, competitive bid and delivery, which has given him the ability to work across the entire spectrum of his sector’s activities, from inception to completion. Through that process, he has developed the ability to forge relationships involving the closest collaboration and trust with clients, contractors and consultants.
Paul is committed to service with integrity and to excellence of product. These qualities have underpinned his reputation as one of the most respected leaders in his field, informed his passion for healthcare architecture, and ensured that both he and his team enjoy a high proportion of repeat work with our many clients.
