The University of California, San Diego (UCSD) has selected HKS and Clark Construction to lead the design-build of its Living and Learning Neighborhood at North Torrey Pines. The neighborhood will fulfill UCSD’s vision of a fully integrated university community by blending student housing, academic buildings, research laboratories, classrooms and community space to create a truly immersive learning experience. HKS is the lead Design Architect and the Architect of Record, and other team members include associate design firm Safdie Rabines Architects and landscape architect OJB.
HKS announces the expansion of its interior practice today, with the recent hires of designers Jill Duncan, David Lubin, Grant Kanik and Gracie Andraos. Adding to HKS’ award-winning interior design for hospitality, sports and healthcare, the new designers will expand the firm’s expertise by adding depth in commercial, workplace and retail design, with an emphasis on strategy.

HKS announced today that Grant Kanik and his team from WHEELERKÄNIK have joined HKS to strengthen the firm's global workplace and interiors practice. The combined team will help take HKS’ level of strategic consulting and interior design to new heights across all market sectors. Grant will serve as associate principal and commercial practice leader and will continue to be based in London.
HKS is expanding its health practice with the addition of Whitney Fuessel, vice president and health care architect. She will help lead the Houston-based health practice and continue to grow the firm’s client base in the south-central region.
HKS’ Marcia Ascanio, Scott Hunter and John Hutchings were elevated to the American Institute of Architects (AIA) 2017 College of Fellows, one of the highest honors the AIA can bestow upon a member.
