Today, HKS celebrates the opening of MGM National Harbor, a new $1.4 billion entertainment destination located on the Potomac River in Prince George’s County, Maryland. Encompassing more than 1.7 million square feet, MGM National Harbor features a 24-story hotel; more than 125,000 square feet of gaming space; 15 dining options, including three celebrity chef restaurants; 18,000 square feet of high-end retail; a 3,000-seat theater; a 27,000 square-foot destination spa; and 50,000 square feet of meeting and convention space. HKS led the overall design and planning for the entire project.
Today, Kroenke Sports and Entertainment breaks ground on the new HKS-designed L.A. Stadium at Hollywood Park. The nearly 3 million-square-foot, multipurpose venue will be home to the NFL’s L.A. Rams and is slated to open in 2019. Located on 298 acres and just east of Los Angeles International Airport in Inglewood, California, the stadium is designed to host world-class sporting events and college championships.
HKS’ contemporary and romantic redesign of Esperanza, An Auberge Resort in Cabo San Lucas, received the prestigious Gold Key Award for Best Resort at the 2016 Gold Key Awards for Excellence in Hospitality Design, sponsored by Boutique Design. The awards program is in its 36th year of celebrating the most innovative projects and designers across the globe.
