Jennifer M. Kolstad has joined HKS as vice president and director of interior architecture. She will work in collaboration with HKS’ practice leaders and design directors to unify architecture and interior design.

Her global perspective is rooted in her native Canada and the many international cities where she has lived and practiced design. She has developed a diverse international portfolio of hospitality, retail, institutional, government and corporate interiors projects. With an emphasis on conceptually driven design and collaboration among all disciplines at the outset of the project, her objective is to deliver the big idea through “total design.”

Kolstad’s interests in material innovation, integrated technology, digital design and fabrication provide the framework for an ever-evolving studio, delivery method and built environment. With experience as a client-side owner and operator, she considers the full equation when designing to elevate her client’s business and brand.

Her recent project work includes the U.S. Bank Tower Observation Deck in Los Angeles, the Holly Hunt Dallas showroom, the Children’s Health Fetal Center in Dallas and the YAS Hotel in Abu Dhabi.

She achieved a Master of Architecture degree from Illinois Institute of Technology and was a recipient of the SOM graduate fellowship. She is a professional member of NCIDQ and IIDA and is an associate member of the American Institute of Architects.
