HKS announced today that Pat Askew has joined the firm as principal and global director of aviation. Based in HKS’ Chicago office, Askew is responsible for leading and growing the firm’s aviation business across The Americas, Europe, Middle East, Asia and Africa.

“I’m thrilled to welcome Pat to HKS,” said Dan Noble, president and CEO of HKS. “Bringing him on is a game-changer for our firm and the aviation industry. His outstanding experience with the planning, design and delivery of complex projects will bring an immediate impact to our practice.”

An established industry expert, Askew has more than 30 years working with some of the world’s most successful airports and airlines on high-profile projects across all building types. He joins HKS from Gensler, where he was a principal and firm-wide aviation and transportation practice area leader. Earlier in this career, Askew led global aviation practices for both Perkins+Will and HOK.

“HKS’ commitment to developing deeply-focused sector expertise, coupled with its reach and practice diversity, uniquely positions us within the industry,” said Askew. “Our platform gives us an opportunity to bring a new way of thinking – and more holistic approach – to our aviation and transportation clients.”

Current HKS aviation projects include a 500,000 square-foot, 24-gate replacement concourse at San Francisco International Airport, as well as significant projects at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport and Orlando International Airport. In addition, HKS has provided 20 years of continuous service to Dallas Fort Worth International Airport on projects ranging from hundreds of quick task order studies and small renovations, to full-scale A/E services for the billion-dollar international Terminal D.
