Vice President Alex John to Lead New York Hospitality Design Studio

HKS announces its newest expansion with the opening of a hospitality design studio within the firm’s existing office in New York City. The new studio is led by vice president Alex John under the guidance of HKS New York office director Erik Wood. Together, they are leveraging HKS New York’s expertise in urban design, architecture, and now hospitality design to grow the firm’s regional business. John is an accomplished architect returning to his New York City roots following a successful 12-year post at HKS’ global headquarters in Dallas.

“Alex John’s expertise in hospitality design is a great complement to our New York office’s expertise in architecture and urban design,” said Dan Noble, CEO of HKS. “The New York hospitality studio offers clients in the northeast a local connection to our worldwide hospitality design team.”

HKS established its New York office in 2011 and specializes in urban design, healthcare and commercial projects. John will have the built-in resources and regional expertise of nearly 20 HKS architects and interior designers already based in New York City to draw upon while he remains strongly connected to the hospitality team at the Dallas headquarters of HKS.

"I am thrilled to be returning to my hometown of New York City to lead our new design studio in the first northeastern outpost of our core hospitality practice," John said. " With a strong presence in New York City, we will be able to create promising new relationships with clients, allowing us to connect in more meaningful ways that create exciting possibilities for the HKS Hospitality Group as we continue to evolve and expand."

John’s recently completed architectural portfolio includes the Secrets Cap Cana Resort & Spa in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic; the Secrets Playa Mujeres Golf & Spa Resort in Quintana Roo, Mexico; and the JW Marriott San Antonio Hill Country Resort & Spa in San Antonio, Texas.
