HKS announced today that Grant Kanik and his team from WHEELERKÄNIK have joined HKS to strengthen the firm's global workplace and interiors practice. The combined team will help take HKS’ level of strategic consulting and interior design to new heights across all market sectors. Grant will serve as associate principal and commercial practice leader and will continue to be based in London.
“We have been interested in expanding our footprint in commercial interiors and workplace strategies around the globe for the past several years,” said Dan Noble, President and CEO of HKS. “The acquisition of talent from Grant and his WHEELERKÄNIK team is a tremendous boost to those efforts.”
“Grant and his team will create a world-class commercial practice at HKS by helping us deliver meaningful and measureable change to our clients around the world,” said Francis Gallagher, Managing Director of HKS London. “Grant’s expertise in planning and strategy will bridge our architectural and interiors practices, and will unlock innovation and value for our clients in London and far beyond.”
“I’m energized by the opportunity to establish HKS as a global leader in interior design and strategy,” said Kanik. “I have dedicated my career to exploring how the combination of research, strategy and design can impact organizations. I believe design can help our clients achieve powerful competitive advantages – particularly with regard to supporting organizational culture, driving employee engagement and optimizing business performance.”
Kanik co-founded WHEELERKÄNIK with Gary Wheeler in 2008. The firm was celebrated for its research-driven design and helped transform workplaces for American Express, Betfair, Fidelity Investments and Edelman. Kanik has won many global design awards and was credited for designing the ‘office of the future’ by the Financial Times. In addition to his workplace portfolio, Kanik has also worked extensively with retail, education hospitality and residential clients.
“HKS is the ideal place to take my career to the next level,” added Kanik. “The firm’s truly interdisciplinary nature will enable us to leverage innovations across all market sectors. Also, I studied medicine before becoming a designer and have always dreamt about joining a firm with a premier healthcare practice.”
