Gus Hinojosa, AIA, IIDA, LEED AP, NCARB, joins HKS as vice president and director of commercial interiors. With more than 29 years of experience, Hinojosa brings extensive knowledge, having worked with Forbes 500 clients on a variety of domestic and international projects including global standards, corporate headquarters, pilot programs, retail locations, workplace analysis, design and implementation. Complementing his award-winning design skills, his management and technical expertise provides a strong foundation for a successful project.Hinojosa has directed design for various high-profile Dallas clients including The Rosewood Corporation, Mary Kay, Fidelity Investments, Haynes & Boone, Morgan Stanley/Saxon Mortgage, Bracewell & Giuliani, Lynn Tillotson Pinker Cox, Orix USA Corporation, Neiman Marcus, Littler and Zelle Hofmann.
A 13th generation Texan, Hinojosa was among the recipients of the Dallas Business Journal 2012 Minority Business Leaders Awards. He recently was honored by the International Interior Design Association, Texas and Oklahoma Chapter, with the Design Excellence Award in the Institutional/Education category for his design of the new SPCA of Texas – Jan Rees-Jones Animal Care Center in Dallas. He also was a finalist for the 2013 D CEO’s Excellence in Architecture and Design and Best Redevelopment or Renovation project.
He is a member of the Dallas Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, DFW Minority Supplier Development Council, American Institute of Architects, International Interior Design Association, National Council of Architectural Registration Board and the Regional Hispanic Contractors’ Association.
Hinojosa supports the SPCA of Texas, Collin County Humane Society, Children’s Medical Hospital and Dallas CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) as well as the Shriner Children’s Hospital, Lambda Legal and LaunchAbility. He is a board member and has served on committees for The Arts Community Alliance and has served on committees for Dallas Children’s Theater. He also is currently a member of the Nasher Sculpture Center, Dallas Museum of Art, Friends of the Park and Preservation Dallas.
Prior to joining HKS, Hinojosa founded HINOJOSA Architecture & Interiors in 2009. His experience also includes working with Skidmore Owings & Merrill, Gensler, Fisher Heck Lake & Flato and Chumney Urrutia.
